Olympus Award

YOCOCU APS  is pleased to establish the Olympus Award, recognizing outstanding research that demonstrates a tangible and practical contribution to the field of cultural heritage conservation.

The award consists of a vintage microscope, symbolizing the power of observation as a bridge between history and innovation. It represents a continuous narrative rooted in the principles of science, highlighting the ongoing evolution of knowledge and practice in the cultural heritage sector.

The Olympus Award aims to recognize research projects that offer:

innovative methodologies, technologies, or materials for conservation, restoration, diagnostics, preventive conservation, and monitoring of cultural heritage; or
significant improvements to existing methods, protocols, instruments, formulations, or materials currently used in the field.

The guiding criterion for evaluation is the demonstrable and transferable usefulness of the research, with particular emphasis on its potential impact on professional conservation practice and its applicability within the cultural heritage sector.
